Saving the Caboolture Warplane Museum

Saving the Caboolture Warplane Museum The Caboolture Warplane Museum, Queensland’s only operational warplane museum, is facing a critical time and needs community support to ensure its survival and continued celebration of Australian aviation history. Media Release Saving the Caboolture Warplane Museum: A Call to Action Located at Hangar 101/157 McNaught Rd, Caboolture, the Caboolture Warplane Museum stands as a proud guardian of Australia’s military and civil aviation heritage. Since its inception in 1995, the museum has provided visitors with an immersive experience, such as sitting in the pilot’s seat of a Huey helicopter, viewing the DC-47 Dakota that once served dignitaries, and exploring artefacts from WWI, WWII, and the Vietnam era. Home to iconic warplanes like the North American T-6 Texan and Gipsy Moth, with adventure flights available in some aircraft, the museum is more than static displays; it is a living tribute to Australia’s aviation pioneers and the spirit of ANZAC. Thousands have learned about legendary figures, including Queensland’s first Aboriginal fighter pilot, Leonard Waters, and enjoyed restoration projects like the Gipsy Moth, lovingly returned to its original condition after years in storage. The museum relies heavily on admission fees, donations, and grants, all of which are fuelled by the voluntary labour of dedicated members. As a non-government institution, every dollar earned goes directly back into preserving these flying icons and educational programs for future generations. Yet the Caboolture Warplane Museum now faces an unprecedented challenge that threatens its future. The loss of this museum would mean losing vital stories, educational experiences, and the opportunity for Australians, young and old, to connect with their proud aviation past. Although the Caboolture Areo Club has managed the land exceptionally well, the privately owned lease has now ended, requiring the museum to either relocate, seek a short-term extension, or find an alternative facility.  How Can You Help? Terry Young, Federal Member for Longman, is passionate about preserving a piece of our local history and is asking the public to sign a petition to Save the Warplane Museum, available at the link provided.

Petition: Rule Out the Spare Room Tax

Petition: Rule Out the Spare Room Tax The Petition Details: An overwhelming 5.9k Australians have voiced strong opposition to the proposed “spare room tax” discussed at the Government’s recent Productivity Roundtable. Although the idea remains just a proposal and is not currently on the agenda, the fact that it has not been ruled out by the Federal Labor Government is causing significant concern—particularly among low- to middle-income earners across the country. This controversial proposal could unfairly impact: Young couples planning for a future family Seniors and pensioners who are settled in their long-time homes and living on modest incomes Australians who need a spare room for a home office, carer, guest room or other legitimate purposes Many fear that such a policy would amount to an invasion of privacy—stripping individuals of the right to decide how they use and configure their own homes. At a time when Australians are already struggling with a cost-of-living crisis, penalising people for how many rooms they have is neither a fair nor effective way to address the housing shortage. Instead of resorting to punitive measures, the Labor Government should pursue positive, ethical, and incentive-based policies to encourage voluntary downsizing and better utilise available housing stock. By officially ruling out this proposal, the government can alleviate the growing anxiety and uncertainty felt by thousands of Australians.

Criminalise the Burning of the Australian Flag

Petition: Criminalise the Burning of the Australian Flag In the next sitting in Parliament, my Colleague, Phillip Thompson OAM MP will move a motion to call for criminalising the burning and/or desecration of the Australian National Flag. The abhorrent behaviour of protestors burning the Australian National Flag at rallies throughout our country is deplorable and disrespectful. It goes against our values as a nation. The Australian Flag is the flag our Australian Defence Force wears on their shoulders and the flag that sits on the coffin of our fallen. It is an insult to every single Australian every time one of these thugs puts a torch to our national flag without consequence. Please sign the petition below and show your support for making it a criminal offence to burn and/or desecrate our Australian National Flag.

Let’s Get It Done – Boot The Ute Tax

Labor’s proposed “Ute tax” tries to force Australians to purchase electric vehicles or EV’s by slugging manufacturers with an additional tax/levy if they don’t sell enough EV’s over their entire fleet of vehicles. Not only does this go against our basic democratic right to choose what best suits our own individual lifestyles, it would be grossly unfair to manufacturers who mainly sell commercial vehicles like utes and trucks, where there is no EV option on the vehicles they sell due to range, towing and load capacity etc. These manufacturers would be at a major disadvantage. If an EV suits someone’s lifestyle and they want to buy one, I say knock yourself out, but those people like tradies, people travelling long distances or people towing caravans where there is no EV currently that will do the job, they cannot be penalised in our democratic country. It’s up to the EV manufacturers to come up with vehicles that address the issues that currently prevent people from purchasing their products.  Tell the Labor Federal Government to stop trying to control our lives and sign my “Boot The Ute Tax Petition” and send them a clear message. Help us Boot The Ute Tax by signing my petition below! FIRST NAME* LAST NAME* SUBURB* EMAIL* PHONE (optional)

Got Mobile Coverage Problems?

A group of Coalition MPs from outer-urban electorates are demanding that the major telcos step up their commitment to serving the communities they represent. The major problem is a lack of coverage in areas where they don’t want to pay for new towers, but the frustration also extends to the customer service constituents receive and the lack of timely repairing of networks when problems arise.  They have forgotten about the families and businesses on the urban fringe of our cities. If you are affected by the poor quality of mobile service and coverage, we need you to fill in your details below and help us take action!

Beachmere Sands mobile tower

Beachmere residents will have better mobile phone coverage thanks to funding from the Coalition Government’s Mobile Blackspot program. Telstra recently completed the installation of a small cell mobile base station to address an issue where some residents, particularly in the Beachmere Sands community, were feeling isolated because they could not contact friends and family. I have been fighting to resolve this situation and with help from Former Minister for Regional Communications Mark Coulton, I’m delighted that Telstra has now completed the new infrastructure.
