Let’s Get It Done – Fix Exit 150, Buchanan Rd

If you’ve ever taken the Buchanan Road Exit 150 off the Bruce Highway, you’re well aware of the dangers that the on-ramp poses to commuters, especially during peak morning and afternoon hours. It’s become a notorious bottleneck and a significant safety hazard. The frustrations and concerns of our local community are growing, and rightfully so. Every day, residents face the risks associated with this outdated infrastructure. The lack of investment in our roads is no longer just an inconvenience; it’s a serious issue that affects the safety and efficiency of our daily commutes. We need both the Federal and State Governments to recognise the urgency of this matter. Our community cannot afford to wait any longer for necessary improvements. It’s time for our leaders to take action and allocate the funds needed to upgrade and expand our local infrastructure. Investing in our roads now will not only ease the current dangers but also support the future growth and prosperity of our region. We call on the Federal and State Governments to prioritise the safety and well-being of our residents by committing to immediate infrastructure investments. Let’s work together to ensure that our roads are safe and reliable for everyone. Sign my petition below to tell the Government to stop wasting time and Fix Exit 150! Together, we can push for the changes we desperately need to fix OUR roads.  Help Us Fix Exit 150 by Signing My Petition Below FIRST NAME* LAST NAME* SUBURB* EMAIL* PHONE (optional) Do you want to be kept up to date on this petition?* Yes No

Let’s Get It Done – Boot The Ute Tax

Labor’s proposed “Ute tax” tries to force Australians to purchase electric vehicles or EV’s by slugging manufacturers with an additional tax/levy if they don’t sell enough EV’s over their entire fleet of vehicles. Not only does this go against our basic democratic right to choose what best suits our own individual lifestyles, it would be grossly unfair to manufacturers who mainly sell commercial vehicles like utes and trucks, where there is no EV option on the vehicles they sell due to range, towing and load capacity etc. These manufacturers would be at a major disadvantage. If an EV suits someone’s lifestyle and they want to buy one, I say knock yourself out, but those people like tradies, people travelling long distances or people towing caravans where there is no EV currently that will do the job, they cannot be penalised in our democratic country. It’s up to the EV manufacturers to come up with vehicles that address the issues that currently prevent people from purchasing their products.  Tell the Labor Federal Government to stop trying to control our lives and sign my “Boot The Ute Tax Petition” and send them a clear message. Help us Boot The Ute Tax by signing my petition below! FIRST NAME* LAST NAME* SUBURB* EMAIL* PHONE (optional)

South Sea Island Community Centre opening

I recently attended the opening of the South Sea Island Community Centre which was jointly funded by the community and a Federal Government grant. The centre is close to my heart and will help bring people together, remember the past but look positively towards the future. It also has opportunities to give people an insight into our shared history. The centre has been established in the new North Harbour estate, near a little known but historically significant site in Longman. It is fantastic to have a developer in our region that is dedicated to preserving our local history and creating space for the community to come together.

Beachmere Sands mobile tower

Beachmere residents will have better mobile phone coverage thanks to funding from the Coalition Government’s Mobile Blackspot program. Telstra recently completed the installation of a small cell mobile base station to address an issue where some residents, particularly in the Beachmere Sands community, were feeling isolated because they could not contact friends and family. I have been fighting to resolve this situation and with help from Former Minister for Regional Communications Mark Coulton, I’m delighted that Telstra has now completed the new infrastructure.

Dakabin Woolworths opening

It was great to attend the opening of the new Woolies at Dakabin on August 19 and I was able to attend the official ceremony where there were some very excited staff members – 75 in total – ready to welcome the first customers through the door. Many locals are also pretty excited about the new store – some were lined up outside waiting to be among the first inside. There were already a dozen or so online orders in the queue for its drive-through service, even before the doors opened! When you include the specialty stores which are expected to open in October, around 200 people will be employed in the shopping centre. It is such an important economic investment in my electorate of Longman, and the entire region, particularly during these tough economic times.
