It was great to attend the opening of the new Woolies at Dakabin on August 19 and I was able to attend the official ceremony where there were some very excited staff members – 75 in total – ready to welcome the first customers through the door.
Many locals are also pretty excited about the new store – some were lined up outside waiting to be among the first inside.
There were already a dozen or so online orders in the queue for its drive-through service, even before the doors opened!
When you include the specialty stores which are expected to open in October, around 200 people will be employed in the shopping centre.
It is such an important economic investment in my electorate of Longman, and the entire region, particularly during these tough economic times.
