I recently attended the opening of the South Sea Island Community Centre which was jointly funded by the community and a Federal Government grant.
The centre is close to my heart and will help bring people together, remember the past but look positively towards the future.
It also has opportunities to give people an insight into our shared history.
The centre has been established in the new North Harbour estate, near a little known but historically significant site in Longman.
It is fantastic to have a developer in our region that is dedicated to preserving our local history and creating space for the community to come together.
