N3C Family Fun Day

Last Saturday, at the N3C Family Fun Day, I had the joy of meeting Jess, the brilliant author behind Ivy’s Allergies: A Story of Courage in the Classroom.
She spoke about her inspiration, her hope for children with allergies, and how important it is for kids to feel seen, understood, and empowered.
📖 What Ivy’s Allergies is All About
Ivy’s Allergies: A Story of Courage in the Classroom is a children’s picture book created to foster empathy, self‑advocacy, and confidence in young kids aged 4 to 11.
The story follows Ivy, a brave girl who faces the challenges that come with having food allergies while navigating school, classmates, and big emotions. Jess includes tools Ivy uses to cope, things like breathing exercises to calm worry and strategies to speak up for herself.
Beyond the allergy, it’s really a story about resilience: learning how to manage difficult situations, feeling confident in who you are, and building inclusion and understanding among peers.
