Q. What can an MPs office do?

  • Help with Federal Government Services:

    • Assistance with Centrelink, Medicare, NDIS, aged care services, immigration matters, and more.

    • Help navigating MyGov and federal online portals.

  • Immigration and Visa Assistance:

    • Provide guidance or escalate cases involving visa delays or concerns (not legal advice, but advocacy support).

  • Grant and Funding Support:

    • Information about federal grants and programs.

    • Letters of support for grant applications or community initiatives.

  • Advocacy and Referrals:

    • Write letters or contact relevant ministers or departments on your behalf.

    • Refer individuals to relevant services or ombudsmen.

  • Commemorative and Civic Services:

    • Arrange congratulatory messages for milestone birthdays and anniversaries (e.g., from the Prime Minister or Governor-General).

    • Distribute Australian flags, citizenship materials, or provide ceremonial assistance.

  • Petitions and Public Campaigns:

    • Accept and table petitions in Parliament.

    • Support community campaigns on local or national issues.

  • Community Engagement:

    • Hold community forums, town halls, and listening posts.
