The Bribie Bowls Club will receive significant upgrades thanks to a $5 million investment from the Coalition Government, if re-elected.

Member for Longman Terry Young said the funding would help the club continue to expand while providing social and economic benefits to the broader community.

“I have met with the club directors on a number of occasions to hear about their expansion plans, including a 700sqm clubhouse extension as well as a new carpark and all-weather playing greens,” Mr Young said.

“Over the past financial year, the club has provided $52,980 in cash and in-kind donations to local schools, community groups and sporting clubs and the expansion would also increase the amount of space available for other community groups to use.

“Bowls continues to grow in popularity here in Queensland with the sport continuing to attract players of all ages, largely due to great initiatives like Bowls Qld’s Come and Try Day.

“The upgrade made possible thanks to this investment of $5 million will only see that continue to grow.”

The Club currently boasts four outdoor greens and a large modern clubhouse. The proposed upgrades mean the club will have covered greens, the main footprint of the club will be expanded and there will be provision for more car parking.

Bribie Bowls have won best bowls club in Qld for two years running and continue to grow from strength to strength. It is a favourite in the Bribie community and is an attractive option for regional competitions.

“We’ll be able to continue hosting regional competitions right here, attracting more clubs from across Queensland to come and compete here in Longman.
