Bowl Cancer Australia

Great to catch up with Tara from Bowel Cancer Australia at Parliament House to discuss bowel cancer and the urgent need for early diagnosis, especially with Australia having the highest rates of early-onset bowel cancer in the world.
This visit prompted me to give a speech to give a speech and raise awareness (see link below)
Did you know?
• Each year, 14,534 Australians are diagnosed with bowel cancer, and 1 in 9 of these are under 50.
• The risk of bowel cancer before age 40 has more than doubled since 2000, and it’s the deadliest cancer for Australians aged 25-54.
• Sadly, early-onset patients face delays in diagnosis, taking 60% longer on average, due to age biases, leading to later stage detection and poorer outcomes.
It’s critical that GPs recognize the red flags and act quickly with colonoscopies to catch this disease early. Awareness and prompt action save lives! 💙
